CERTEX 2014 - Mass Casualty Training | Portsmouth Event Photography

I had a great time photographing the CERTEX 2014 held at the nTelos Pavilion in Portsmouth. This was a great training drill for EMS, SWOT, and CERT volunteers. Being a fly on the wall and documenting it was a lot of fun.

The idea was that there were multiple bomb explosions at the nTelos Pavillion during a concert.

It started with an earl morning call for the victim volunteers that included Boy Scouts, teens from the Commonwealth's Challenge and many other individuals. Once there you were tagged with your injury and sent to the Moulage artists.

Once everyone was ready to go they placed the victims around the venu and started the drill.

They setup triage areas and started wrapping wounds before taking them to another location for transport.

There were many local agencies involved in the drill, including Norfolk Marine and SWOT teams. The SWOT team even brought out their robot, here it is placing an X-ray board so they can see what is inside of the bag.

Afterwards they debriefed the groups, fed everyone lunch and showed off some of the cool gadgets and capabilities that the various agencies have.

It was a great experience and I hope to get the opportunity to do it again.
